Grief Tools
About Grief Tools
What this is.
Grief Tools is a set of free, practical tools for loss and the hard conversations around it. The Gut Check shows you how a man's really doing after a loss. Take it for yourself or for your partner, and talk it through with a coach after. What Do I Say? finds you the words when someone you love is upset. Say the Hard Thing helps you build and practice the conversation you've been putting off. More are coming.
What this isn't.
None of this is therapy. It isn't medical or psychiatric care, it isn't a diagnosis, and it isn't a crisis line. The coaches are interactive and built using AI. They talk straight and they know what you've told them, but they're tools, not people, and they're not meant to replace one.
Who it's for.
People dealing with a loss, and the people around them. The man who says he's fine and isn't. The partner who can see something's wrong and can't quite name it. The friend, the sister, the son who wants to help and doesn't know what to say. If there's a loss anywhere near your life and the words have gotten hard, this is for you.
Who it isn't for.
Anyone in acute crisis. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, if you don't feel safe, or if things are bad right now, these aren't the right tools for right now. Reach a real person at findahelpline.com. That's your best move, and these tools aren't built for that.
Privacy.
Your account holds your assessments, your saved losses, and your conversations with any of the coaches. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else. Coach conversations are stored, including ones started without an account, and we may read them in anonymized form to keep improving the tools. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from your dashboard.
Who built it.
I'm Jason MacKenzie. After losing my wife and my daughter, I'm doing everything I can to help people learn to live after loss. Grief Tools comes out of years of that work, because loss doesn't come with instructions, and everyone around one is doing their best without a map.
